Poster and Magazine Selection Process

Enlargements of Un-Succesful Images

I do not wish to use this photograph as my posters main image. This is because the frame is zoomed out far too much not allowing there to be an effective composition. The lack of composition here gives the image no drama and lacks in eye-catching the audience. This image could be far more effective if the balloon was closer and perhaps in a Bulls-Eye composition. In addition to this, there is a lot of white surrounding the image overpowering the red balloon also giving it less dominance in the photograph. Lastly, the image allows you to see my pencil case which is weighing down the balloon. This should not be seen in shot as its distracting. Despite the fact it can be cropped out easily in Photoshop there is a risk f pixelating the image and not crating the clarity it needs to be successful.

In addition to the balloon piece, I also wish not to use this image within my magazine front cover. The main aspect to reflect on is the lighting consideration and how this has badly impacted my photograph. The warm tone torch creates the harsh lighting I wanted to portray however it washes out the pig mask giving no contrast or depth to the image. In addition, the lighting creates a glare behind my model that is distracting and takes emphasis aware from the subject matter. Overall, not creating that scary aesthetic I hoped to.
